300A Brixton Hill
Residential and Commercial
This six story corner building with turret feature, sits on the busy junction of Brixton Hill and Streatham Place. It has retail units at ground floor and 46 units of mixed sale and affordable housing above. The units will provide a mix of 3, 2, and 1 bedroom and studio units with majority being of dual aspect, and will have their own amenity space in the form of balconies or winter gardens. Landscaped roof gardens will also be provided for the use of residents.
The rhythm of the roofline displayed in the existing adjacent structures, with its regular pattern of gablets, pilasters and ornate windows has been included in the design and to facilitate this architectural reference in a more contemporary form it was felt that increasing the scale would benefit the juxtaposition. Prominence is then given to the corner by creating a circular turret like feature, housing winter gardens for the residential accommodation and drawing reference from the original Victorian building which was once housed on the site.
